Empress Elisabeth turns 175
The Empress Elisabeth Museum, located in the historic waiting room of Possenhofen station just next to Lake Starnberg, celebrates the birthday of „Sisi“ with a special exhibit. The extensive annual programme – including literary evenings, lectures on the life of the empress and a historic boat trip on the lake – counts on the graphic support of Sauro Porta in all areas. The cornerstones of the visualization: 1. The well-known Piloty painting showing the empress horseback riding in front of Possenhofen Castle, 2. a stilyzed lily, the empress’ favourite flower, used by Ludwig II to decorate Possenhofen station upon her arrival. The Habsburg emperors’ yellow dominates the color climate. Flyers, posters and invitations, a four meter long banner for the Museum courtyard and a range of advertisements – in Süddeutsche Zeitung, Münchner Merkur, FAZ and various cultural magazines such as Mundus – were designed. The overall impression was appointed to be “imperial“ – elegant, but not fancy, colorful, but not glaring.
